Bixby was adopted from GRRNT a little over a year ago, but recently returned due to a change in his family's circumstances. Bixby has a permanently fused knee joint in his rear left leg, and he cannot bend the leg. He came to GRRNT with the leg in this condition, and we don't know how it was originally injured. His leg does not slow him down, and he keeps up with his 2 year old canine foster sibling while running. He plays all day, and then is content to sleep on a dog bed in the bedroom all night.  Bixby is house trained, and will whimper at the back door when he needs to go out. His foster family will tell us more about him as they get to know him better.

PROFILE

Bixby is a quiet, sweet-natured and gentle boy. His body may be small, but he makes up for it with his large, loving heart. The frozen joint in his back leg does not seem to slow Bixby down. He loves to go on adventures with his foster sister, and they frequently play tag in the back yard. He is able to load in the car normally by pulling himself up with his front paws. He also loves walks around the neighborhood and eagerly greets passersby.

He is fine with the crate, but prefers to sleep on a dog bed in his foster family’s bedroom. He has some basic training and rarely barks. He is completely house-trained and will whimper when he needs to go outside or it’s time to eat.

Bixby loves to be with his foster family and wants to be in the middle of all the activity. Most of the time he lies on the carpet, but he loves to be petted and will reward you with kisses. He initially was a little apprehensive about his foster home, but after a few days he bonded with his foster family and seems to be quite content. He is doing really well in his foster home with adults who are able to be home with him the majority of the time, and another young dog to play with. We think this family group and environment is most ideal for him, though he is good with kids.

Bixby is ready for adoption, and will steal the hearts of his forever family.
