Tandy and Toffee were found together as strays out on property in the country. Efforts to find their owners were not successful, so the kind person who found them and was taking care of them asked GRRNT to help find them new homes. Tandy is just getting settled into her foster home, but we do know that while she really enjoys playing with the young dogs her size in her foster home, she is not good with the small dog they have. When Tandy is ready for adoption we will be looking for a home with a large dog that will play with her, but no small dogs. Tandy's foster family will be able to tell us more about her as they get to know her better.

PROFILE

Tandy is a 1.5-year-old girl who still has a lot of puppy in her.  She is a medium active dog who has been fostered with other dogs as well as cats.  She gets along and likes to play with other dogs her size but smaller dogs irritate her.  She is very curious about the cats which earned her a nose scratch.  She does not chase them – just really wants to play.  Tandy would be best in a home with another Golden or dog her size to expend her puppy energy.

Tandy is a golden sized girl who looks like a small Great Pyrenees with a Golden disposition.  She loves walks, especially meeting people who will stop and pet her and tell her she is a beautiful girl. She loves chew toys but hasn’t quite caught on to chasing tennis balls yet. She is very attentive to her human and loves to get up on the couch for tummy rubs.  However, like most puppies, she will find trouble if she is bored.  She is apt to find a shoe, slipper, dog bed, area rug or other interesting object to chew.  She understands “no” and is easy to redirect to a more appropriate object to chew.
Tandy is well mannered but could use a basic training course.  She will jump up on new friends to ask for a hug and likes to see what’s on the counter in the kitchen.  She doesn’t counter surf, just wants to make sure you know she will help if you need it. Tandy walks on a leash politely, sometimes pulling when she gets excited, but is not really interested in squirrels or birds.  She takes treats politely but is not particularly food motivated. She is not thunder-phobic, in fact, she likes walking in the rain.  She is house trained, but crating for the first few days in a new home would be beneficial while she learns the rules of the house.  She has a ferocious bark for a girl, but rarely uses it, even when the FedEx person comes to the door.

Tandy will be at the Meet & Greet on January 21 and looks forward to meeting her new family.
