Toffee and Tandy were found together as strays out on property in the country. Efforts to find their owners were not successful, so the kind person who found them and was taking care of them asked GRRNT to help find them new homes. Toffee is just getting settled into his foster home, but we have already discovered he really enjoys playing with the other dog in his foster home, so he will need a playmate in his forever home. His foster family will be able to tell us more about him soon.

PROFILE

Toffee is a sweetheart of a pup, even though he is a big guy he is a gentle giant.  He loves to play and gets along great with his foster fur-sister.  He has a lot of energy but is very mindful of his size, and is never overbearing. We have not seen him with cats or children, but would not be surprised if he is nothing but loving and gentle with them.

Toffee was quick to socialize and follow foster dad and mom around the house.  You want to keep your eye on him and keep him close as he will pick up items that are not toys to chew on.  He likes to tear the stuffed toys to bits... it seems they all do! He if a fast learner though, and understands no.

Even though he is full size, and has some indoor manners, he is not fully housetrained. It is still a work in progress, he needs to be kept close and watched for signs that he needs to go outside. He does understand when you ask him to go, and when walked around to the "potty" area of the yard and asked to "potty", he did his business there.  Good boy!!

He is a very smart boy and is eager to please.  He will be easy to teach new commands and will benefit from an active family that will take him on daily walks and play fetch in the yard.  He travels very well and is kennel trained.  He will go into his kennel when directed there (he will likely turn around and wonder where his treat is, as that was his reward), and he is crated at night since he is not quite potty trained yet.

He has only been with us a couple weeks, and is proving to be a very social, gentle and a smart dog.  He is a bundle of joy and loves attention and hugs.  He will make a very loving addition to his forever family.
