Blue was found as a stray by animal control. He is just now settling into his foster home, and we will know more about him once his foster family gets to know him. Blue will be neutered soon and have the irritation around his eyes treated, and will be ready for adoption in a few weeks.
Blue is a large golden that is 1-2 years old with the sweetest personality and disposition. He is super snuggly and is the most Velcro-type dog with people that his fosters have ever had in their 20+ fosters. With Blue, it’s all about his people.
Blue is a big, happy, sweet, lovable guy. He can entertain himself or play with other dogs. Blue gets along well with other dogs; however, he will push them to the side and wants to be the dog to get attention. We don’t know what he would be like around cats, but suspect he may want to chase them since bunnies and squirrels are quite enticing to him on walks. Given the chance, he is tall enough to get something off of the counter or table, but hasn’t tried in his foster home, yet. He has improved on the leash but still needs some work. He knows how to sit and lay down but could benefit from more training.
Blue’s dream life would be as an only dog with someone home all day so he may follow him/her around from room to room. He is a large boy and would not be recommended for families with small children that could easily be knocked down. He also tends to want to be underfoot, all the time and the kitchen seems to be a favorite spot since someone is always in there. He is house trained and crate trained. His favorite thing to do is ride in the car with his head hung out, but we would only recommend doing that if he is wearing doggles since he had eye entropion correction surgery.
Blue has been neutered, and had eye surgery to correct a problem with his eye lids, called entropion, in GRRNT’s care. Like most Goldens, he has a little itchy skin that is also easily treated.
All Blue wants is a forever home with someone that will love and snuggle him, and make him the center of their world.
Blue's eye is still not fully healed yet, and he needs another week before the stitches are removed. He's also developed a hot spot that we are treating, so this boy is not quite ready for adoption. He will have recheck in another week, and we hope he gets the all clear then.
Blue had been given the all clear to stop wearing the cone, and the stitches from his eye surgery were removed. Three days later he managed to scratch his eye and open the incision, which then had be stitched closed again. Blue will need a little more time to heal.
Blue was neutered and had surgery on his eyes today. He will need a few weeks to recover. Blue has a condition called entropion in his eyes. This is where the eyelids roll towards the eye too much and allow the eye lashes to rub the surface of his eye. It causes a great deal of discomfort and can leave scarring on the eye if not corrected. In the majority of cases surgery is successful in resolving the problem, so Blue should not have any more problems with eye irritation.
