Chesney was picked up as a stray by animal control in a rural area. He does have heartworms and will need to undergo treatment. He is settling into his foster home and we will know more about him soon.
Chesney was found as a stray and turned into an animal shelter. By looks and actions Chesney had been out there wandering on his own for a while, but he is quickly regaining his Golden beauty!
Chesney is a 9 year old Golden boy with the disposition of a much younger dog. His favorite pastimes are getting a belly rub and playing ball. Chesney retrieves the ball and returns it to be thrown again, all the while wagging his tail and smiling as only a Golden can do. He loves his chew toys and pretty much anything else that falls on the floor, but he easily relinquishes whatever is not a chew toy. Chesney wants nothing more than to be with people, be petted, and be loved. His name should probably be Thumper because when all things are going his way, his tail never stops thumping the floor or wall to show how happy he is.
Chesney is house trained, understands “no”, and has learned to sit for a snack or at the door, but Chesney is a hunting dog and wants to run when out in the open, without coming back. He is presently in training to stop this running and is doing better. Chesney is also a counter surfer but is learning to stop these efforts too. He was recently neutered and had a benign cyst removed from his right hip. We hope the neuter will also help curb his desire to run. Unfortunately Chesney has heartworms, and will need to undergo treatment.
Chesney will be a beautiful golden addition to a family with other dogs and children. A truly gentle heart with the soulful eyes of a Golden, Chesney will be a quiet, loving, happy member of his forever family. Chesney will start heartworm treatment after Thanksgiving, and we expect he will be ready to find his forever family in early February.
Chesney has finished heartworm treatment and is ready to find his forever family.
Chesney received his second round of heartworm treatment today. He has one more month of recovery ahead.
Chesney started his heartworm treatment today. He will be spending the next two months finishing treatment and recovery.
Chesney was neutered today, and a sebaceous cyst was removed from his hip. He will start heartworm treatment in late November. He is looking so much better. He has gained some weight and his coat is starting to grow back in.
