Maple can not be in a home with small dogs or cats. Large dogs are ok, but they would have to be young dogs that can keep up with her. Her play energy is not a match for senior dogs.

PROFILE

Hi there! I’m Maple, my foster family just calls me May for short, and I am ready to find my forever home! I was found as a stray and the good people of GRRNT picked me up from a shelter. I am about 1 ½ years old, so I am still very much a puppy. I am getting used to the rules of being part of a family and living inside, and I am starting to like being a house dog! I am not a full Golden Retriever, I have double dew claws in my back paws, and some white fur on my feet, but my foster mom says I am pretty!

I have lots of things I am good at so far!! I have NEVER had a potty accident in the house and I learned to go to the back door the very first day I was here! I also know sit and down. And I learned the first day to sit and wait until I get the “OK” before I touch my food! My foster family says I am very smart! I love people and just really want to be wherever they are. I also LOVE to play with other dogs, but my foster siblings think I don’t know when to stop so they get annoyed with me (that’s when my puppy personality comes out!). Foster mom says I have two switches, calm and crazy! She says I sure am sweet when I am calm though!

I do have some things I gotta work on. I’m not used to all of this life and I love it so far. I love it so much that I REALLY don’t like it when my people leave me. I get all sorts of anxious and bored. I don’t love my crate but I have to be in there when my foster family leaves or I chew on things. To protest being in my crate, I pretty much chew on anything in or on it. So, for now, I don’t get anything but my chew toy in my crate when they leave. I sleep in there too, and do better at night because I can hear them in the room with me. I haven't had much experience walking on the leash, but I do better every time I go out. I am not sure about the car and my family has to lift me in, but foster mom says I will learn to like it when I see the fun places I can go.

I think I would like a home where I am not alone too much and don’t have to go in my crate too long. I do like other dogs, but need a dog that likes to play as hard as I do. My canine foster siblings didn't want to play as long as I did and would get mad at me if I was too pushy, and I was too rough for the small fluffy dog in the home, so I can't have a small dog sibling. I might like it best as the only dog. I would love to be the center of attention.

I really enjoy being with people, and would love to have my very own family. If you are looking for a best friend come meet me!
