Zoe was adopted from GRRNT a few years ago, and recently returned due to a major change in her family's circumstances.

PROFILE

Zoe is a 9 year old Golden Retriever that is a lovely older lady. She is house-trained, knows basic commands (sit, shake) and walks well on a leash. She is currently living with 3 Golden Retrievers and gets along well with all of them. She does need a slow introduction to new dogs, and takes a day or two to accept them. She likes other dogs once she knows them and wants to play with her housemates, however, Zoe is not a dog that can be taken to the dog park. Zoe takes treats very gently, and enjoys chewing on bones. If you leave a tasty morsel out on the counter within reach she is happy to help herself!

Zoe does not like to be confined. She would not do well in a home where she would be left alone most of the day or a home that wanted to utilize a crate. When confined, she will do in anything in her power to escape. She currently stays loose in the home with her foster siblings while the family is away, and she doesn't have any issues with that arrangement. Zoe does not board well, and will need a family that either plans to take her with her when they travel or that will have someone stay with her at their home.

Zoe knows how to navigate stairs like a champ so two story homes are not a problem. She is a very affectionate girl with little concept of personal space. If you are looking for a velcro dog, she's your girl. Zoe currently sleeps in bed with her foster family and demands pillow access in the bed. She's even been known to go get her own pillow and pick her spot on the bed!

This girl loves attention and will nudge her nose up to you if you spend too long on the computer. She likes to remind you that it's belly rub time. She enjoys spending time outside chasing the squirrels but hasn't shown any interest in fetch. Zoe currently lives with a 5ft chain link fence and doesn't make any effort to scale or jump it. She is capable of doing so if she desired, so any physical fence will be sufficient for this gal. Zoe loves water and would adore a home where swimming would be available. Zoe has a very nice energy level for her age and loves to play. She would love to go on regular walks and outings with her forever family. Zoe rides extremely well in the car and loads herself right up.

Zoe does have thunder storm phobia, and she will need to take some prescription medication help her through thunder storms. Thankfully, the medication does work and she has been able to calm down when the weather turns bad. Zoe is happy to be your alarm system if someone knocks at the door. She has quite the bark! But she quickly calms down once the danger has passed or visitors have entered.

We think Zoe would do best in a quieter household without kids or young grandkids visiting. She can get anxious when the home is bustling with activity. Initially we thought Zoe would need to be the only female dog in the home, but she is currently living peacefully with a younger female dog, and has been comfortable with a couple of other female dogs that visited overnight.  With calm and slow introductions to other dogs Zoe does just fine in a multi dog home. We feel she would do best with another dog for companionship, and making the right match will be important.  However, no kitty siblings for this girl. This gal is looking for her retirement home to live out her Golden years. Zoe has lots of love to give and will brighten your life for the rest of her days.
