Our annual picnic was a day filled with fun, camaraderie, soggy dogs and great food. The weatherman once again smiled and we had sunny skies and reasonable temperatures. The picnic committee cannot say thank you enough to all the members and volunteers who showed up early to help with set up, stayed late to take down, and pitched in all day long whenever a helping hand was needed. What a wonderful group of people we have in GRRNT.

The initial tally show that we took in over $12,000 in net profit. There are several items that have not yet been added and in addition the proceeds from T-shirt sales during the coming year will also be added, so, the picnic committee anticipates that net revenue for this year’s picnic will total at about $15,000. This is a huge number and would not have been possible without the generous support of our members and our sponsors.

We deeply appreciate everyone who supported the picnic; it would not be the success it is year after year without everyone's support.

We had over 150 dogs and about 250 people at the picnic this year. Obviously, everyone came hungry as our food vendor, L&S Ltd, ran out of their award winning bar-b-queue (over 150 pounds of meat) by the middle of the afternoon. Not to worry – we’ve asked for 200 pounds next year!

Mayor of Meadowmere

One of the many highlights of the day was the election of the first Mayor of Meadowmere, Madison Princess Rose owned by Susie Buchanan, our vet tech at Central Animal Hospital. Our Mayor Pro Tem was Sir Milo, owned by Kelley Blaylock.

We had a successful silent auction and as always the much anticipated raffle.
The raffle winners were:
Grand Prize, the Cruise – Neil Watson. Neil has graciously donated the cruise back to GRRNT to be used in the spring raffle.
