Delilah was an owner surrender to GRRNT due to a change in her family's circumstances. She still needs to be spayed, and is being treated for an ear infection. She is settling into her foster home, but will not be ready for adoption until after she is spayed in the next few weeks. (Delilah went in heat 6/6, so her spay will be delayed a little over a month.)

PROFILE

Delilah is almost 2 years old, born 8/28/15, and is still learning about this big world.   Delilah can be a little skittish in large crowds and doesn’t like loud noise, but does not have any thunderstorm anxiety.    Delilah does have some anxiety that should go away with some time, but she has had a lot of changes in her short life and is looking for some stability.   Delilah likes to go wherever you are going and wants to be with her “person” all the time.

Delilah is completely house trained, crate trained and is using the dog door in her current foster home.  It took a couple of days before she was comfortable with the dog door, but she is the typical golden that wants to please her owner.   Delilah likes to go on walks and is learning how to walk on a leash without pulling, but every now and then she forgets.   Delilah likes to ride in the car, doesn’t get car sick, but is still learning it is best for her to stay in the back and not try to “help” the driver!

Delilah is not going to be the dog that enjoys a dog park, as she would much rather go on walks with her owner.   Delilah gets along with other dogs and the cats in her foster home, but does not like a bunch of dogs running up to her face.   If you are looking for a dog that is going to enjoy going to the dog park, then Delilah is NOT the dog for you.    After Delilah is comfortable with her new owner, she will enjoy going to local restaurants with you, as long as she can sit at your feet and get a little bite of food.   Of course, if she could then go home and snuggle in the bed with you while watching a movie, she would be in heaven.

Delilah loves to sit at the front windows and look out at her front yard, but she is not much of a barker.    She would love to find a home where the windows are low or has a dog bed next to the window, so she can look at everything going on in her new yard. Delilah is going to be a great dog for someone who is home with her and has some time to do some basic training with her.

UPDATE

6/6/2017

Delilah has gone in heat, so her spay will be delayed until after she is out of season (a little over a month from now).
