Harmony was turned into an animal shelter along with her 10 newborn puppies. We believe the babies were no more than 2 days old when they were surrendered to the shelter. GRRNT is fortunate to have dedicated volunteers, and one very special volunteer who raced to the shelter to pick up this family within minutes of being notifed they were there. Harmony is very underweight, and nursing puppies will put even more burden on her, but with the loving care of her foster family we are sure she will receive the nutrition she needs to build up her system, and the puppies will get everything they need to be healthy.  We have 7 boys and 3 girls, Solo, Cello, Trumpet, Fiddle, Timpani, Chord, Tamborine Harp, Piccolo, and Flute. Solo is the only blond baby.

PROFILE

Harmony is a super sweet girl! She is beautiful, friendly, smart and appears to be housebroken. She is a pretty well behaved dog and quiet too. Foster mom has only heard her bark once. She is always interested and hopeful when someone pulls something from the fridge, and she is also a counter surfer. She even put her paws up on the table during dinner once but after a gentle correction layed quietly at the feet of her foster family. You can hardly blame her since needs to eat to feed 10 puppies! She is very thin and needs a lot of groceries to keep up with the demand of the puppies, but her foster family is making sure Harmony gets all the nutrition she needs so she and the puppies are healthy.

Harmony will be perfectly happy as the only dog, and more than happy to be the center of attention. She is much more interested in her people and getting lots of affection than other dogs. She will go from person to be petted and loved on, and enjoys sharing the couch with you. Harmony has been good with the female dogs in her foster home. She was less welcoming to the male dog, but was very easy to redirect when she got grumpy with him, so it is not a problem. She needs a little work on basic house manners, and has been known to sneak food off the counter top when she thought no one was watching. She does not need a five star meal, and actually prefers her Pro Plan food over high end grain free food.

Harmony is weaning the puppies now, and will be ready to leave them in about a week. She still needs to be spayed after her milk dries up, but should be ready to find her forever family by early May.

UPDATE

4/9/2018 Harmony has stared weaning the puppies. They will be 6 weeks old on Friday, and Harmony will be ready to leave them soon.

3/26/2018  Harmony is a wonderful mother, and all the puppies are growing and doing well. Harmony has gained 6 pounds of much needed weight since coming to her foster home. Once the puppies are old enough to wean she will be able to keep more nutrition for herself and get back to a healthy weight more quickly.
