PROFILE

My name is Myla, and I'm a 4 year old sweetie. Don't be fooled by my pictures -- I'm younger than my sugar dusted face makes me look!  I'm young at heart with a lot of love to give and YES, I'm even cuter in person! When I got to GRRNT, I was very skinny and very timid, but I am currently working on gaining confidence AND weight/muscle with my foster mom and her dog. Even though I'm often unsure, I am courageous and will try new things. So far, new things I'm a fan of include: car rides, being outside, full body scratches, cheese and cuddles. New things I'm still hesitant about? Tile, leashes and loud noises -- like vacuums, yikes!

I am crate trained and haven't had any accidents in the house or my crate. I like other dogs and am excited to play with them, even though I'm still unsure about how playing works. It might be good to have a dog friend to help guide me in my new home.

Myla’s foster mom has discovered some things about her since she’s been with her.

She is feaful during thunderstorms, but they are working on it! She likes to stay close or go in her kennel, which foster mom covers with a blanket, and leaves the door open so she can come and go.

With her hip displaysia, Myla will need to a home that is carpeted or one with lots of rugs, as she can't keep her balance on hardwood and tile floors. This was the case prior to surgery, soit might get better as she heals. She needs to build muscle in her back legs and we hope with time and exercise she will get stronger.

She is taking medication and foster mom had to find something to entice her to eat it. Velveeta is the key! She loves Velveeta and is more than happy to take her medicine hidden in a piece of it.

Myla is still great with other dogs, and enjoys having another dog to follow when she's unsure.

The perfect family would be a bit on the calmer side (older children) but outgoing so Myla can try new things with them.

UPDATE

10/23/2018 Myla had her second hip surgery today. She will need 4-6 weeks to recover, and should be ready for adoption sometime in December

10/9/2018 Myla is recovering well from her first hip surgery. In a few weeks she will need to have surgery on the second hip as well. We will update on her progress as she moves through recovery.

8/23/2018 Myla will have orthopedic surgery today on her hip.

8/1/2018  An exam at the GRRNT vet discovered that Myla has hip dysplasia. She will probably need surgery. GRRNT vets are looking at the options, and we will update once we make a decision on the best treatment plan.
