Radar came to GRRNT from a shelter. He does have heartworms and will not be ready for adoption until he completes treatment. He is settling into his foster home and we will know more about him soon.

PROFILE

Radar is a good boy with a sweet disposition. He loves attention and being petted and will lean against whoever is giving him attention. After getting to know his canine foster siblings, he is getting along with them ok, but will bark at the other dogs if they come near his bowl at meal time. He doesn’t need their companionship and is more often off on his own, so he could be very happy as an only dog. He does not spend a lot of time outside, but he likes to watch the golfers from time to time. He comes when called, understands “No”, and responds to “Good boy!”  Radar likes to sleep in small spaces, under tables, between chairs and the wall, etc., however, he absolutely does not want to be crated.

Radar has proven to be an escape artist, and needs to be watched at doorways and gates to make sure he doesn’t run out. He also took advantage of an open window and knocked out a screen to go for a jaunt outside. The fun is in the chase for him, but foster parents had his number and got him back home safely in a few minutes. He is smart enough to remember his escape route though, and has checked the window a couple of times to see if he might be able to sneak out again. His forever family will have to be diligent about keeping an eye on him at exit points. It’s a very good explanation for why he was found as a stray by animal control.

Radar is being treated for heartworms, and will be with GRRNT for a couple of months while he completes treatment and recovers. Please check back for updates on his progress.
