Star is an owner surrender to GRRNT. She is just settling into her foster home and we will know all about her soon.

PROFILE

Star is very affectionate puppy. She loves people, loves to be petted and played with. Her foster dad worked from home the first week to help her settle into the home. She mostly stayed in the room with him and followed him around the house whenever he got up.

Star gets really excited to see people – she can be a bit of kangaroo, bouncing with excitement to see you. It’s just puppy exuberance, she’s really, really happy and loves people, but she still hasn’t mastered impulse control. When she gets overly excited she jumps on people, so she will need a family with older kids, preteen and up. She doesn’t seem to realize how big she is. Toddlers will be bowled over by her eagerness. If you remain calm she will settle down.

Star has some typical puppy habits, all normal for a puppy her age. Her previous owners said Star was having some potty accidents, and they were concerned it might be medical. So far she has had no accidents in her foster home, and quickly learned to the use the dog door. She chews and digs a little. There are a couple new holes in the yard where she chewed up the turf and then dug the holes. She can be redirected to appropriate chew toys, antlers are her favorites. She found a nice stick in the yard and chews it there, and then she figured out she could bring it in the doggie door and chew on it in the house. She has chewed a few household items, and she got into the laundry and chewed up a sock when the door was left open. Like any 6 month old puppy, Star needs to be supervised and her home should be puppy proofed.

She loves to play fetch with the tennis ball, and thinks playing with the water house is great fun. She will chase the stream all over the yard and get completely soaked. She gets surprised by her reflection in the fridge and will bark at it. She chases her tail, catches it and continues to run in circles, tail in mouth.

Overall, Star is a very sweet and affectionate puppy with tons of energy. She is an active 6 month old, and will need a family willing to invest in training classes with her. This happy girl is ready to find her forever family.
