Cherry - #08-108
Female - 2 years
Cherry is 2 year-old “ball of fire” who has happily overcome her share of
troubles.
First, she was dumped with two other dogs in a rural area. Then, shortly after
GRRNT picked her up, she suffered a severe bout of pneumonia and spent several
weeks at the vet recovering. She was also diagnosed with heartworms and appears
to have had at least one litter of puppies at a very young age.
The good news is that Cherry has fully recovered, been spayed, and has started
heartworm treatment. She is now getting lots of TLC and good medication in
foster care – she’s gained some weight and looks and feels terrific.
Cherry still has a lot of puppy left in her. She loves to play ball....any ball
will do. She has outgrown the chewing phase except for the occasional toy or
tennis ball, and likes to keep herself busy by gnawing on a racquetball. She is
completely housebroken and knows how to use a doggie door. She is not a
counter-surfer or trash inspector – she respects the fact that every else has
their own food. She is a very social dog and loves to go to the creek and play
in the water with the other foster dogs.
She’s still working on the basics like sit and stay, and her foster family is
working to curb her habit of jumping up for attention. And, like most young
dogs, she gets very excited when her family gets home or company comes over.
But she isn’t pushy. She loves to cuddle and sleep with you, but only if you
invite her to. And when you put her ball up, she knows play time is over.
Cherry is looking for an active family, perhaps with another dog, who will keep
her busy, give her lots of play and exercise, and also continue her basic
training. In return, her forever family will get a young, happy girl who has
years and years of love to give.
