Emmitt - #08-134
Male - 7 years
Emmitt was obviously someone’s beloved pet at one time. When he arrived at
animal control as a stray, he had been well cared for, was neutered and
heartworm negative. He even had a fresh summer do (shave down). But his family
never came to look for him, so GRRNT picked him up. Our vets reported he was in
good health except for a low thyroid condition, which is easily treated with an
inexpensive medication.
His coat is growing back quickly and he's going to be a fluffy, teddy bear with
a calm disposition. He loves to be close to his human and is getting along very
well with his foster siblings. He does bark but only when he is in "protect"
mode. During an electrical storm he was quite anxious and had difficulty
settling down, so he’ll need some reassurance and monitoring during storms. He
digs, some - but only to bury a bone or create a cool place to lie in the
shade.
Emmitt has lost a little weight but still has a ways to go. But he is now
actually running in the back yard - if you can call it running (it's almost a
hop because his back end goes faster than his front end! He was quite unsure of
stairs when he first came, but he's now running up and down the stairs without
a problem.
Emmitt has a wide, shy smile like the man he is named for – we know he’ll run
right into your heart!
