Do you believe in Santa Claus? Jewel does and she's hoping that Santa will bring her a furever home for Christmas!

Pretty, pretty Jewel is a sweet, 7-year-old lady who was saved from imminent demise when a rescue volunteer pulled her (and her sister, Jade) out of a shelter, literally at the last moment. Although previously Jewel lived with Jade, since coming into rescue she has decided that being a single girl is much more preferable.

We believe these two girls were both outside dogs who did not receive much attention or training. Jewel is in the process of potty training, and since it’s a new concept to her, she will need consistent, gentle reminders in that area until she is fully house-trained. But with a doggie door she's doing great!! She enjoys a good walk, but could use some work on walking nicely on the leash without pulling. Jewel is very intelligent and highly treat motivated so she is picking up basic obedience very quickly.

Jewel is calm and quiet in the house, stays off the furniture unless you invite her up and does not chew on anything inappropriate. She seems very interested in chasing the cat and will chase squirrels in the yard. She is happy to have the companionship of people, but is not demanding of attention. She does love to interact with you playing with a toy or chasing a ball. She does not counter surf, but does a good job of begging if you have a plate of food.

Jewel is very active for her age and appreciates gentle but firm leadership. She needs a home where she will be the only dog with no small children. She also needs a 6 foot fenced backyard as she can climb a chainlink fence.

If you are looking for a spunky playful girl who will add some sparkle to your life, come meet Jewel!
