Ryleigh - #08-138
Female - 9 months
Ryleigh is a very friendly, easy-going young girl who was surrendered when her
family had to move into an apartment. She loves everyone, young and old alike,
and loves being part of a family.
She is 9 months old and your typical playful pup – with one big difference.
When she came to us, Ryleigh had hip dysplasia, so her hip did not give her the
support she needed for endless hours of play or long walks. The vet recommended
that she have a hip replacement surgery (FHO) while she was young, so her
recovery would be faster. She had her surgery on September 10th and she's doing
great!
Her friendly, playful, and positive attitude keeps her focused on her toys and
the family rather than any discomfort in her hip. She's already starting to
take a few steps and can't wait until her foster mom will allow her to spend
longer periods of time on walks or out in the yard!
Ryleigh loves her toys, socks, and chew bones. Fortunately, this has kept her
busy during the initial period after her surgery, while she needs to stay
calmer. When she's not confined to the bathroom (she does not like her crate),
she enjoys carrying her toys around the house with her and is more than willing
to share them with other dogs. In fact, she often teases the other dogs with
her toys, enticing them to play with her. If there’s not a playmate around,
Ryleigh’s content to hang out with her foster mom and entertain herself with
her chew bone before settling down for a refreshing nap.
Despite her young age, Ryleigh is very good about knowing which are her toys
and does not chew on anything that is not hers. Ryleigh knows the command “sit”
but needs more practice with “stay” and “down”. She also needs practice walking
on a leash.
Prior to her surgery, Ryleigh liked to hang out in the backyard with the
family. She did not show any interest in digging in the flower pots or the
yard, and never tried to get over or under the fence. She just wants to be near
her family and will wait patiently for them if they’ve gone out for a few
hours. She is such a good girl!
Ryleigh will soon be good as new and is available now to a family that is
willing to foster her through the rehabilitation process, which GRRNT will pay
for and follow-up on. If you want an easy-to-handle, fun-loving, playful young
girl, please consider helping Ryleigh to become the healthy, happy dog she was
meant to be.
