Major
Male - 2 years
Updates from Major's foster parents:
9/7/2010: He is getting better and BETTER every day! He is now going to the park with his foster brothers, and loves to play with them and the other visitors. He is eating very, very well and is getting all that lost weight back on. His coat is so much better-he is truly on the road to recovery!
His next vet visit is not until the 24th, so we won't know how much progress his liver has made 'til then. He really seems to feel better every day, so I am hoping that his insides are doing just as well. He continues on his special l/d diet and liver medication for the time being....with treats, hugs, and lots of love thrown in!
He reminded me to tell you that he feels so darn good he can hardly stand it! He is currently demolishing a stuffed animal...otherwise he'd help me with this note to you...
Thanks to EVERYONE for everything.
8/28/2010: Every day he seems so much better. He fetched the paper this morning all by himself, then headed to the front door for his treat! Also, his liver enzymes are 5-10% better, so things are going really well.
8/27/2010: Mr Major is feeling so much better every day. This morning he woke up bright and cheerful, wagging his tail! (While he wags his tail a lot, it has been a few weeks since he WOKE UP with such a big smile on his face.) Since he ate his fill of chicken yesterday, I believe he got a little strength and energy back. He ate well again today so I believe with all my heart he is on the road to recovery!
This morning, he visited the vet so they could draw blood to check his liver values and we hope to have the results tomorrow. The doctors and staff at Allen adore him and have taken such good care of him, and we all keep our fingers crossed. Additionally, Dr. Brandy Porterpan and staff at the Animal Diagnostic Clinic were also so generous and helpful!
Throughout his journey, he has kept his sweet Golden disposition! What a great boy!
9/25/2010: Major's progress continues to be encouraging! His liver values have declined and his doctors are looking to see if they can start reducing his meds.
10/23/2010: Major started to not eat again. He went in Friday for repeat blood work. His liver enzymes were lower but his albumen was also lower down from 2.7 to 2.4. If the liver is unable to make albumen he can't survive. He is beginning to lose weight again after gaining some, he is down to 78 from 82. We have a specialist checking his blood work for any recommendations.
