Meet Zane – a six year old, dark gold male who was surrendered to GRRNT because of size and space restrictions. You see, Zane is 100 pounds of pure lover boy. He’s not overweight, he’s just huge! People are somewhat amazed at his size and heads turn wherever he goes.

Zane’s foster mom describes him as a rare treasure; he’s house trained, likes car rides, and does not jump up on furniture. His happy heart overflows during a rousing game of fetch – for such a large dog his skill is amazing. On his own, he’s perfectly content to entertain himself with several squeaky toys. (The noisier the better!)

Zane’s manners are impeccable. He is much too polite to beg at the table. He also knows several basic commands including “sit”, “down” and “no. Occasionally, Zane will jump up to share a greeting. Based on his size, he could accidently knock over a young child, so a home without small children is a must.

Most goldens are excellent observers and Zane is no exception. It appears as if he knows his stature easily intimidates other dogs. He enjoys his status as the “big dog” and is not the least bit interested in being friends with any other dogs. He will need to be the only dog in his forever family.

If you’ve never experienced the golden love lean, just wait till Zane positions himself right beside you and leans in for some attention. His foster mom calls Zane a “petting statue”. He’ll happily sit next to you and drool contentedly as you shower him with endless hand petting.

It’s apparent that Zane prefers the company of humans. But, based on his size, he would not be the best choice for the first time dog owner. He will need the confident and loving guidance of an experienced dog owner.

People say that everything’s bigger in Texas – Zane is a Texas sized, four paw delivery system of golden love. Once you’ve met him, you won’t want to leave without him!
