Ozzie was an owner surrender to a local animal shelter. His previous owners reported he is good with other dogs and kids, and he loves water and would really like a pool. We are just getting to know him, and will have more information about him soon.

PROFILE

Ozzie is a very sweet, huggable, teddy bear of a dog.  He came to GRRNT about 10 lbs overweight, and he has started losing a few pounds already. He still needs to lose about 5 more lbs to be at a healthy weight. He is great with other dogs and plays and has a great time with his canine foster sibling. He is tolerant of the house cat, and has learned when the cat hisses at him he should turn and go the other direction. He enjoys lying down by his foster parents while they are working in the office or watching TV in the evening. Ozzie is a big loveable mush, and just wants to be where you are. He needs a family that will give him lots of attention and be comfortable with him being on the furniture.

Ozzie is very smart and knows some basic commands like sit and down. He is fairly well leash trained and loves to ride in the car. Ozzie is giving every indication he has only been fed people food in the past, and he is not interested in regular dog food. His foster family is working on encouraging him to eat dog food.  He is hard headed and has been holding out for “the good stuff”, but has finally started eating canned dog food. The next step is to start mixing in dry dog food and see if the canned food mixed with it will entice him to eat better. His new family will need to continue working to move his diet to dry dog food.

Ozzie is currently being treated for an ear infection, but that should be cleared up in the near future.  He does have a thyroid issue and will need to take daily medication for the rest of his life. It is inexpensive and he takes the small pill easily.  Ozzie has charmed his foster family, and they will be sad to see him go but happy to find his forever home.  This special boy is ready to find the perfect home where he can be part of the family and be included in everything you do.

Ozzie will make his debut at the meet n greet on April 9. Come meet him!
