PROFILE

Presley is a very sweet, loving girl, but a little timid. She loves people of all ages, she is cuddly with the kids, and she wants to be friends with the cats. She seems to like water as she tried to catch it coming out of the hose. She will need some obedience training, and will occasionally try to jump up on people. We think Presley must have been fed people food from the table since she will bark when her foster family is eating. They are working on teaching her better manners.

Presley may not have been exposed to a lot of normal things that puppies usually come across when they are young. She is afraid of most new things she encounters, sudden noise startle her, and random items seem new and scary to her. During Halloween people in costumes were definitely disturbing for her. Doorways seem to be a barrier she had negative experiences with in the past. At first she was afraid to go out through the doorway, and then afraid to come back in the house, but she is getting more comfortable coming in through the door now. Going up and down stairs in the house has been challenging, and going on walks has been especially scary.

Presley is happier when she is safe at home with her people, and feels secure in her crate. She is perfectly content to be crated overnight or when her foster family is away from the house.

Presley is still a puppy, and can sometimes exhibit typical puppy behavior, like counter surfing, or chewing shoes or children’s toys. Her new family will need to remember that puppies will be puppies, and puppy proofing the home will be necessary. Presley needs a family that will help her gain confidence, encourage her to explore and learn the world is not a scary place when you are with someone who loves you. With patience, training, and love, Presley can become a wonderful companion for some lucky family.

Presley was in season when she came to GRRNT, and she has a mild skin infection as well as a urinary tract infection, that we are treating. She will not be available for adoption until mid to late November, after she has been spayed.
