During 2011, we are raising awareness and funds for the treatment and prevention of heartworms, a terrible but completely preventable parasite.

Often our rescued Goldens test positive for heartworms - treatment can cost $350 to $700 per dog, depending on the severity of the heartworms. In 2010, GRRNT treated 45 dogs for heartworms.

Additionally, GRRNT provides heartworm preventative medicine each month for all of our fosters, and the costs adds up quickly because of the number of dogs we have in foster care.
