Parker is a happy puppy who found himself in an area animal shelter. He has been coughing, so he's being treated for kennel cough right now. We will have more information about him soon.
This adorable boy is a sweetheart, and a great couch cuddler, but don’t let that fool you. He is a very lively and busy boy who enjoys zoomies in the large yard at his foster home. He gets along well with his canine foster siblings, and he learns from the older dogs. They taught him to use the dog door within a few hours, and when to relax and take a nap. He loves the wading pool and loves to splash and play in the pool. He has a great time taking a dip in the pool and then zooming around the yard. When he is tired he is a superb and very sweet cuddler. He takes his place on the couch with the big dogs, and will curl up in the chair too. He is very excited about chasing squirrels, he enjoys the chase but doesn’t care if he actually catches them. He is very curious about the large parrots in his foster home, and is a little too interested in them, but who can blame him! He could learn to co-exist with them, but right now he has too much puppy curiosity.
He is very good in the house, and has no accidents as long as he has access to the doggie door or is let out when needed, although he has a little trouble waiting to potty while he is crated. He has been very quiet while foster mom was on business conference calls at home, and just stayed right there with her along with his canine foster siblings. He cooperates with nail trims and brushing. We haven’t tried a bath yet, but he loves the water so much and is so easy to handle that shouldn’t be a problem. He is a very trusting boy.
Parker does need some basic obedience training and leash training. He is starting to get the idea of “sit”, and he should take to training easily since he is treat motivated. He finds things on the counter top interesting so he needs some house manners as well.
Parker needs a home with a big yard for zoomies, he would love a pool, at least a wading pool to play in. He would be fine as an only dog, he can be self-sufficient and is happy entertaining himself, but he would do fine with a canine playmate. Kids elementary age and older would be best to keep up with this playful boy, and someone home with him part time at the very least, if not a full time stay home parent. Since he is still a puppy he does need time and attention, so a full time working home will not be a good match for this sweet, silly puppy.
Parker still needs to be neutered, but he will be interviewing potential adopters at the July 8 meet n greet, and hopes to find his forever family.
