Stevie will not be attending meet n greets until she has been spayed, and then completes heartworm treatment, which may not be until the end of May.
Stevie was turned into a local animal shelter along with eight, 3 day old puppies. When the puppies are old enough, they will be adopted out. Stevie unfortunately has heartworms, and will need to undergo treatment after the puppies are weaned. She will be with GRRNT for several months.
Stevie was a wonderful mama dog, and now that the puppies have been weaned she is getting to be just a dog. She has a long road ahead of her with heartworm treatment, but she is starting to come out of her shell and enjoy being a puppy herself. After her initial introduction to her foster canine siblings she is now making friends, and has buddy to play with. They are big into body bumping and wrestling. The other two dogs in the home join in for the chase, and jump over their senior canine sibling in the fun. A home with playful dog would be a bonus for Stevie. She is also sweet, smart and sometimes a little stubborn! Stevie is blossoming and becoming more confident every day, so much so that she is turning into a bit of an escape artist. She can climb a rock wall to go over the fence at the top, and she can easily jump a 4 ft fence. Stevie will need a very secure yard in her forever home, and family who will supervise her while she is outside.
Stevie will not be available for adoption until she completes heartworm treatment in about 3 months, possibly towards the end of May.
Stevie had a recheck at the vet today to see if her mange infection has cleared up. We are hoping she can be spayed in the next few weeks, then she will need to undergo heartworm treatment.
Stevie and all the puppies have been diagnosed with sarcoptic mange and will need 3 weeks of treatment.
Puppies are all weaned and ready to move to separate foster homes away from mama.
Stevie has started to wean the puppies, and she will be able to leave them and move to her own foster home soon. She will be spayed in three to four weeks, and once she has recovered from the surgery, she will still need to undergo heartworm treatment.
Rock & Roll Pupdate: There are 4 boys and 4 girls (Pink is female). The blondes are Elvis and Prince. Prince has a little white spot on top of his head in the shape of a heart. Blondie and Jagger are white, Madonna is mostly white but has a black spot on her back and one side of her face covering her eye is a mask of black and brown, Adele has the markings of a border collie being white with a nice black mask but she has some extra toes in the back so appears to have some Great Pyrenees in her lineage and Santana is black and brown. The vet says they look like they are going to be pretty big dogs. Except perhaps Blondie. She is the runt and has some catching up to do so her foster is making sure she is getting some extra nursing time.
GRRNT is ready to rock in the New Year with the Rock & Roll litter! Stevie and her babies were taken to a local animal shelter when the puppies were just 3 days old, their date of birth is 12/26/2016. The shelter reached out to GRRNT to see if we could take them in. We have four females -- Adele, Blondie, Pink and Madonna -- and four males: Elvis, Jagger, , Prince and Santana. Mom is Stevie, a lovely blonde Golden and a very good mom. These precious pups are now two weeks old and just had their first vet visit. They won't be ready for adoption until they have received their second round of shots at 11-12 weeks. We'll keep you updated as they grow. If you are interested in adopting one, please fill out an adoption application.
