Coco is an owner surrender to GRRNT. Her foster family is getting to know her, and will be able to tell us all about her soon.

PROFILE

Are you looking for a diamond in the rough?? If so, then Coco is your girl. Coco is a little over 2 years old, born 2/27/17, but acts very much like a puppy. She was previously an outside only dog and has been learning to love being inside. She is still afraid that she is going to be left in the backyard by herself, so she really likes it if “her person” stays out there with her while she takes care of business. She is beginning to feel comfortable out there by herself and this will just continue as she gains some confidence. Coco has not had any accidents in the house and is learning to ask to go out.

Coco is great in the car and will lay down and ride quietly, as long as her person is driving. Coco is currently being crated when her foster mom is not at home and is fed in her crate, so she doesn’t mind being in there at all. During the day she loves hanging out at her foster mom’s feet and the minute her foster mom goes anywhere Coco is right there with her. Coco loves to walk/stand between your legs, but is beginning to learn how to walk on a leash.

Coco is good with other dogs, but doesn’t understand dog language. She is the queen of the castle and doesn’t understand that not all dogs like to have the bones taken out of their mouths!!!  Her foster brothers are trying to help her understand this, but she hasn’t caught on yet. This is one reason Coco is not going to be a dog park dog, as she doesn’t understand when other dogs are giving her clues to leave them alone. Coco is good with cats and currently has 3 foster cats, some with claws and some without.

Coco is looking for a home where there is someone home during the day and can help her learn the ropes of being an indoor dog. She will be happy to crawl up on the couch or bed, and watch TV or a movie with you, something she is not allowed to do in her foster home, though she does keep trying. Coco still jumps up on people and for this reason is not going to be a dog that can go to a home with small children or anyone unsteady on their feet. If you have some time to do some training with Coco, she will be an awesome addition to your home.

UPDATE

4/16/2019 Coco was spayed last week, and is just about recovered.
