PROFILE
Boomer is such a sweet dog. He is very low maintenance, hardly ever barks and has been more energetic since he started pain management for his arthritis. He can now walk around the entire block! He loves his daily walks and does great on a leash.
He has mastered the doggie door and has never had an accident in the house. He does not need a crate and really isn’t a big fan. He gets along just fine with our two cocker spaniels and from what we are told, does great with cats, too. He follows his foster dad everywhere and asks more often than not for a petting using the world famous, “golden nudge”. He shows no interest in toys and has never attempted to go into the pool.
His foster home has all hardwoods, which can be hard at times for Boomer to get up. Carpet would be ideal, but he can certainly live in a home with hardwood/tile. His fosters have a two-story home, but have never let him try the steps. Foster mom thinks he could get up the wood steps, but feels getting down would be too difficult. He loves to be brushed and does great when he has to have his nails clipped.
A majority of Boomer’s medical issues are typical for a dog his age. He does have cataracts in both eyes, and as mentioned before, arthritis in his front leg. His vet appointment on Feb 22 will be to explore his eating behavior. He has a hard time swallowing. Currently he is on an antibiotic in case it is a throat infection. If he does not improve by the 22nd, the vet will do an x-ray to see what might be going on inside. Boomer was tied up for 8 years so his collar could have easily caused damaged to his throat if he pulled a lot on the rope. After we know what his throat issue is, he will be scheduled to be neutered.
He is a loving, gentle dog who would do great in any type of household. He just wants to be loved and included in the family.
