Healing the Forsaken
Rescuing the Forlon 15
Miraculously, our fosters stepped up one by one until each dog had a place waiting. They began to share some of their stories on our Foster Parents Facebook page:
The call came out of nowhere. There were 15 Goldens living in a sad situation that needed immediate rescue. Never in our 25-year history have we had such a large intake of dogs at one time.
Our fantastic intake coordinators hit the ground running, putting out a call to our fosters looking for places for these poor souls. Our medical coordinator alerted our vets that we were in an emergency situation and needed their help. One dog had sutures still in from an insemination procedure several months prior. One had sutures in their ear from something that was done some time ago that was horribly infected. Almost all had pretty bad ear infections, smelled atrocious, and had fleas. And one poor girl was suffering from a horrific paw injury after another dog had chewed it off. Heartbreaking does not begin to describe the condition of these babies.
We are so fortunate to have such a skilled and loving group of fosters who soothe the suffering of these poor souls, giving them the kind words and gentle touches that they have never known but so richly deserve. The foster who took Annette, the Golden with the chewed paw, went above and beyond, researching and contacting a man who makes prosthetics for animals. Annette is a good candidate for a prosthetic paw and we will do everything in our power to help make that happen.
We now turn to you, our faithful Golden friends, for help in the journey to health for our Forlorn 15 and helping them find forever homes. Every donation will make a difference. Help us turn money into miracles with your gift today. Thank you!
